1. The BSL 1.1 Philosophy

Pluvira is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL 1.1). This licensing model provides complete source-code visibility and free personal home-use rights, while ensuring sustainable commercial development without predatory third-party cloud re-licensing.

2. The 5-Year Apache 2.0 Conversion Guarantee

Every version of Pluvira released under the BSL 1.1 license converts automatically and irrevocably to the standard Apache License 2.0 exactly 60 months (5 years) after its release date.

This ensures that Pluvira's software artifacts will permanently enter the public open source commons, guaranteeing zero vendor lock-in and perpetual access for the community.

3. Personal Free Tier Limits

The Personal Free Tier is completely free for non-commercial personal home use, subject to programmatic resource thresholds:

Database Ingest Catalog: Up to 2,500 total channels.
"My List" Curated Channels: Up to 25 active channels.
Failover Slots: 2 slots per channel (Slot 0 Primary + Slot 1 Backup).
Concurrent Client IP Streams: Up to 2 local client IPs simultaneously.
Zero-Knowledge E2EE Cloud Backup: 1 manual snapshot slot (up to 200 KB).

4. Commercial & Pro Tier Licensing

Commercial deployments or home users seeking unlimited channels, high-speed native Rust deduplication, 7 failover slots, WebRTC remote access, and automated E2EE backups can upgrade to Pluvira Pro or Ultra.
